Northampton, UK – June 10, 2025 | Supporters of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) based in the United Kingdom have pledged unwavering support to their party leader, Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, as Malawi prepares for its general elections scheduled for September 16, 2025.
The commitment was made during a well-attended fundraising event organized by the DPP UK Chapter over the weekend in Northampton. Speaking at the event, Chairperson of the chapter, Dr. Kennedy Nkhoma, affirmed the group’s dedication to ensuring Mutharika’s return to power, citing the urgent need for experienced leadership to steer Malawi out of its current economic turmoil.
“We believe Professor Mutharika is best placed to bail the country out of the ongoing economic challenges. As the UK diaspora, we are working on effective strategies and mobilising resources to support his campaign,” said Dr. Nkhoma.
Dr. Nkhoma emphasized that the chapter’s involvement goes beyond financial contributions, noting that they are also focused on promoting peace and unity ahead of the election to ensure the process remains credible and inclusive.
The event saw a strong turnout from Malawian nationals residing in the UK, many of whom echoed sentiments of hope and determination to contribute meaningfully to their homeland’s democratic process.
