CHILIMA LIVES ON : SKC Foundation and Nxtgen Labs Teach Mtandile Students Basic AI Skills.

Twenty students from Mtandile have learned the basics of Artificial Intelligence (AI) thanks to a training program organized by the SKC Foundation and Nxtgen Labs. The SKC Foundation was started by Mary Chilima in memory of her late husband, former Vice President Saulos Klaus Chilima. The foundation teamed up with Nxtgen Labs, a company that helps young people learn about new technology and innovation.

Together, they hosted a four-day training camp called the Future AI Boot Camp for students from Chimutu Community Day Secondary School. The students were taught by young mentors who know a lot about computers and technology. They learned what AI is, how it works, and how it can help solve real-life problems.

Eugene Maseya, who started Nxtgen Labs, said the partnership with SKC Foundation is a good step. “Our goal is to give young people useful skills. This training is just the beginning. We hope to do more in Mtandile and other areas,” he said.

One of the students, Marriam Mtima, who is in Form Three at Chimutu CDSS, shared how much she learned. “Before the camp, I didn’t know anything about AI. Now I understand it, and it’s already helping me do better in school,” she said.

The training gave the students new ideas, confidence, and skills they can use both in school and in their future careers.
